PACT Launches Debut Nevada Video Highlighting “Lifestyles of the Nevada Billboard Lawyers”

New video exposes the lavish lifestyles of Nevada billboard lawyers, asks who is really paying the price

Washington, D.C. – Protecting American Consumers Together (PACT) today launched its debut Nevada video, “Lifestyles of the Nevada Billboard Lawyers,” taking viewers behind the billboards to examine the enormous sums flowing through Nevada’s lawsuit industry, the extravagant lifestyles some billboard lawyers showcase, and the costs ultimately borne by consumers.

The video can be viewed HERE.

Nevada billboard lawyers spent an estimated $132 million on more than 1.6 million advertisements in a single year seeking new clients. PACT Nevada’s new video asks a simple question: Where does all that money lead?

“Nevadans see these lawyers on billboards every day, but they rarely get to see the business model behind them or understand how much it can ultimately cost consumers,” said Lauren Zelt, Executive Director of Protecting American Consumers Together. “This video pulls back the curtain. While some billboard lawyers flaunt mansions, private jets, luxury cars and massive settlement checks, many clients allege they walked away with a fraction of their settlements, and every Nevada family pays the price for a legal system that rewards excess.”

The video highlights social media posts and other public displays of extraordinary wealth, including a multimillion-dollar car collection, private air travel, luxury liquor and a $15 million home later listed for $22 million.

But “Lifestyles of the Nevada Billboard Lawyers” also examines what happens on the other side of the settlement check.

The video shares the experiences of clients who say legal fees and other costs dramatically reduced what they ultimately received. In one case featured in the video, a former client claimed he only received $1,900 of an $8,400 settlement. Another former client said he ended his case $20,000 in debt. A third alleged that her attorney encouraged her to lie about an accident to increase the value of her claim.

The consequences extend far beyond those who hire billboard lawyers. Excessive litigation costs are ultimately passed along to Nevada families through higher prices for insurance, health care, goods and services. Nevada households pay an estimated $4,600 annually due to lawsuit abuse, while the state has some of the highest automobile insurance costs in the country.

Other states have demonstrated that meaningful legal reforms can help change that trajectory. Florida enacted sweeping civil justice reforms in 2023, followed by significant insurance rate reductions and hundreds of millions of dollars returned to policyholders. Georgia has also enacted reforms aimed at restoring balance to its civil justice system.

“Nevada consumers deserve a civil justice system that compensates people who are genuinely harmed, not one that serves as a vehicle for enriching billboard lawyers at everyone else’s expense,” Zelt said. “Florida acted. Georgia acted. It’s time for Nevada policymakers to take a serious look at who is benefiting from the status quo and who is stuck with the bill.”

The video closes with the question at the heart of PACT Nevada’s campaign:

“He got the mansion. You got the bill. Which one of you actually won?”
